Daynạnd S., eigentlich Mulshạnkar [-ʃ-], Asket und Reformer des Hinduismus, * Morvi (Gujarat) 1824, ✝ Ajmer (Rajasthan) 30. 10. 1883; bekämpfte soziale Missstände, Ritualismus, Bilder- und Tempeldienst, trat für einen Monotheismus ein, den er aus den alten polytheistischen Schriften des Veda abzuleiten versuchte. 1875 gründete er die hinduistische Reformbewegung des Aryasamaj.
